Strava

How do I connect Strava?

Right after you sign in, on Connect your rides, or later in Settings → Strava. On the Strava screen keep both permissions checked: View data about your activities (required) and View your private activities (recommended).

Why does Okolo ask for my private activities?

Many people keep rides private on Strava. Without this permission Okolo only sees rides visible to everyone or to your followers, so the km and hours on your bikes, and the service reminders that follow them, come out too low. Okolo only reads your rides; it never posts to Strava or shows your rides to anyone else.

Which Strava rides count?

Rides recorded on Strava as Ride, Mountain Bike Ride, Gravel Ride, E-Bike Ride, E-Mountain Bike Ride or Virtual Ride. Each ride counts toward the bike it was ridden on in Strava. A ride without a bike goes to the default bike you choose for that ride type in Settings → Default bikes. You can move a ride to another bike in the app.

How do I disconnect Strava?

In Settings → Strava → Disconnect Strava. Okolo deletes the rides it got from Strava; your bikes, parts and service history stay. Because those rides stop counting, you can enter each bike’s current mileage before you disconnect. You can also remove Okolo on Strava’s website under Settings → My Apps; Okolo then deletes the Strava rides too.

Service reminders

How does Okolo know when service is due?

Every task has an interval in km, riding hours or days, whichever comes first. Rides you import or log add km and hours to the bike and its parts; days pass on their own. Intervals are set for your bike type from manufacturers’ recommendations, and you can change any of them on the task (Edit interval), or go back to the recommended value.

What do Due soon, Overdue and Check mean?
What is the maintenance tier?

Essentials covers safety checks and parts that wear fast, Recommended adds seasonal care such as a brake bleed or a yearly checkup, Full tracks everything down to the bearings. You choose it when adding a bike and can change it in the bike’s settings.

I added a used bike. Why are some tasks already due?

When you add a bike you’ve been riding, Okolo asks roughly when you last took care of the chain, brake pads, suspension, sealant and the bike as a whole. “Long ago” starts a task close to due; anything you didn’t know is estimated from when you got the bike. Log a service once you’ve done it and the task starts over.

I logged a service by mistake.

Open the task, then its history, and delete the record. The task goes back to where it was.

Notifications

When does Okolo send a notification?

When a task becomes due soon or overdue, usually after new rides come in. Several tasks of one bike come as one notification. Okolo doesn’t send marketing.

I don’t get notifications.

Check Settings → Notifications in Okolo and the notification settings for Okolo on your phone. Some tasks, such as the yearly checkup, are quiet by design and only show in the app.

Your account

How do I change units?

In Settings → Units: kilometres or miles, metres or feet, and the units for pressure, spring rate and weight. Changes save right away.

How do I get a copy of my data?

Write to [email protected] from the email address of your account and we’ll send you your data, including what we got from Strava, within 30 days.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings → Delete account. See Delete account for what is deleted and how to ask by email if you no longer have the app.

Is Okolo on Android?

Not yet. The test runs on iPhone; Android comes later.

I can’t find my bike when adding it.

The bike database isn’t available in the test yet. Choose Build a custom bike and pick your bike type, or add your bike from Strava.
